Little Chefs in Action – Learning Life Skills Through Cooking
Our Life Skills Cookery Class was a delightful blend of learning, creativity, and fun as students of Grades 2- 5 prepared refreshing lemonade and a variety of healthy sandwiches in school.
As students measured ingredients, followed simple instructions, mixed flavours, and assembled their sandwiches, they learnt the importance of planning, and independence. The activity also introduced them to healthy food choices, balanced nutrition, and the benefits of incorporating fresh ingredients into their daily diet.
A strong emphasis was placed on hygiene and food safety practices. Students learnt the importance of washing hands, maintaining cleanliness while handling food, and keeping their workspaces neat and organized.
The joy on their faces as they tasted their creations was a reminder that some of the most meaningful learning happens through practical knowledge.
Aligned with our No Bag Day, the cookery session transformed learning into a practical and enjoyable experience, allowing students to explore essential life skills in a fun and meaningful environment, while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
